Addie also has a Golden Retriever named Phil who she loves very much and spends time with when she isn’t teaching or studying!

ms. BROOKE

From an early age, Brooke always wanted to become a teacher. She can vividly remember reading “Magic Tree House” to her stuffed animals and teaching her Barbie dolls the difference between nouns, verbs, and adjectives when she was just a little girl. Brooke later on made this a reality, when she graduated from Texas State University with her bachelor’s degree in Interdisciplinary Studies. This degree led her back to her hometown, Plano, where she now is a 5th-grade teacher. Brooke has taught first, second, and fifth grade in her five years in the district and loves to watch her students turn reading from a chore into a hobby. Like Dr. Seuss once said, “The more you read, the more you will know. The more you learn, the more places you’ll go!”

ms. Dani

Dani’s goal as an educator is to see her students learn everyday, grow at their own pace, and believe in themselves. She was born and raised in Monterrey, Mexico. She moved to Dallas in 2021, and earned her teacher certification in Core Subjects with Science of Teaching Reading and a certification in Bilingual Education Supplemental- Spanish (Grades EC-6). Dani graduated from the University of Monterrey with a Bachelor's Degree in Educational Sciences. With almost seven years of classroom experience, she has worked as a Teacher’s Assistant, an Inclusion Assistant, and an Elementary Bilingual Teacher. Dani and her husband, Beto, enjoy traveling together, doing outdoor activities, and spending time with family and friends. She also enjoys reading, dancing, walking, yoga, and pilates. We’re All Wonders by R.J. Palacio is a very special book for Dani because it celebrates uniqueness, friendship, inclusion, and belonging.

ms. Holly

Holly, a bubbly soul from Lubbock, found joy and wisdom among horses, donkeys, and cows on her childhood farm. Armed with a B.A. in English and political science from Texas Tech, she delved into civic service, leading neighborhood associations and educating kids on environmental issues. After 14 years of teaching government at Dallas College, Holly added sparkle to the classroom with her jokes and warmth. Now, with a master's in education, she's ready to inspire young minds in English. Her secret to overcoming challenges? A good laugh and inspiration from "The Oldest Student." Off-duty, Holly loves baking, gardening, and knitting with her family. And with her daughter at SMU, they proudly cheer, "Go, Mustangs!"

ms. Isabella

Isabella is currently completing graduate classes in the Speech-Language Pathology program at The University of Texas at Dallas. Through volunteering in the children’s service at her church and working in the child center at her local gym, she became passionate about making a positive impact on a child’s life. In her experiences, she has realized how children can be inspired and motivated by teachers and hopes to be influential in her students’ lives. When Isabella isn’t at IHL or at school, she enjoys baking, exercising, finding new restaurants, and traveling. Her love for reading began in early childhood when her mother would take her to the library or Barnes and Nobles to find books. In elementary school, she became a bookworm when she read 11 Birthdays by Wendy Mass.

Her goal is to create academically engaging learning experiences through an environment that fosters creativity, curiosity, and kindness. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her husband, exploring the restaurant scene in Dallas, and playing tennis.

ms. Pyungwha

Pyungwha had great admiration for many of her teachers growing up in South Korea and dreamed of becoming one herself. That dream came true when she entered her first classroom in Dallas in 2013. Since then Pyungwha has held various teaching positions as a first, third, and fourth-grade teacher, a math/reading interventionist, and most recently a dyslexia teacher. As a lifelong learner herself, Pyungwha loves teaching all subjects, but literacy instruction has a special place in her heart as it poses opportunities to help students experience success, unlock their strengths, and cultivate self-esteem early in their education journey. Pyungwha graduated summa cum laude with a B.S. in Elementary Education from Kansas State University and earned a Master of Education from Southern Methodist University with specializations in Early Literacy and Learning Therapy. She is a certified EC-6 generalist with ESL supplemental and a Certified Academic Language Therapist (CALT). Pyungwha lives in Dallas with her husband, Josh, and their two little children, Dori and Daniel. She loves to spend time outdoors studying rocks, bird-watching, and admiring delicate blooms. Pyungwha’s favorite book is Guess How Much I Love You by Sam McBratney. It’s a wonderful feeling when you realize that you are loved beyond all measure and comprehension.

When she is not enjoying her kiddos' extracurricular activities, you can find her playing pickleball, walking her dog, reading, or playing Mahjong with friends. One of her favorite books is Fish in a Tree by Mullaly Hunt. It reminds Sarah of the teachers that never gave up on her and inspired her to become a teacher.

She had an amazing teacher who encouraged her to embrace the uniqueness of her name.

ms. sTaney

Staney is a senior majoring in Speech, Language, Hearing Sciences at the University of Texas at Dallas. She is currently working towards getting her bachelor’s and applying for master’s programs to become a speech language pathologist. She was born in India and moved to the U.S. when she was four years old. To improve her English, she was encouraged to read and fell in love with reading at a young age! Staney loves reading all kinds of books, but her favorite children’s book series is Magic Tree House by Mary Pope Osborne because it was her way to go on so many adventures all while curled up on the sofa with her books. Her philosophy of teaching is oriented around working with children at their level and teaching them to believe in themselves as much as she believes in them. Staney is also a volunteer with Reading Partners in which she provides individualized reading support to elementary school kids to help improve literacy and boost academic performance. In her free time, Staney loves to read, go on walks, listen to music, watch sitcoms, and try new things!

ms. Tia

Tia is a Louisiana native, who recently moved to Dallas to help further her career and indulge in new adventures in life. Tia earned a Bachelor's Degree in Speech-Language Pathology from Southern University and A&M College of Baton Rouge, La. She recently received her Masters in Education in Special Education - Educational Diagnostician as her concentration from Southeastern Louisiana University. Before moving to Dallas, Tia taught as a K-2, special education teacher for 4 ½ years through the Emerge School for Autism. While working for ESA, she sat in and developed many IEPs and Behavior Plans for students with special needs. Developing and creating these plans helped students not only in the academic world but in their personal lives as well. What she enjoys most about education is being able to love on children, motivate and encourage them to be better and help them find/navigate through life in their own way. In Tia’s spare time she enjoys walking trails, cooking new recipes, and spending time with her family. A special book memory of hers is introducing her kindergarten students to Elephant and Piggie. The joy she could see beaming from her students while reading Let’s Go for a Drive made her feel accomplished and that she had reached them on their level. Mo Willems, who’s the author of these books, has a way of introducing his illustrations and Tia believes that it opens a different part of the students' minds.

ms. Zaena

Zaena is currently at The University of Texas at Dallas studying to receive her Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology. Working with a variety of kids, both in clinic and in daycare systems, has sparked her interest in working with children with Autism and speech delays. She began working with children at her local mosque through the Sunday school program where she got to plan and implement lessons and projects. There, she fell in love with the excitement of teaching. In her free time, she loves spending time with her family, painting, and playing with her baby bunny. Her interest in books was inspired by her fifth-grade teacher that introduced her to the magical experience of a good book. Out of My Mind by Sharon M. Draper was the first book that piqued her desire to work with individuals with special needs.
